Social norms are unwritten rules on behavioral actions that are considered right or wrong for the society. Violating the norms can be good for the person who is doing it, but for the other people it could be disrespectful or not a right thing to do. Walk in the wrong side of a sidewalk, whisper to when you talk, getting into an elevator and looking to the wall instead of the doors are just some examples of norm violations. My non-conformist experience was when I got into an elevator and I faced the wall instead of facing the doors like everyone does.
