The reason why policies and procedures are put into place is to protect the children, it’s not just to protect the children it’s also to protect the adults that are working with the children. The reason they’re set is so all members of staff take everything seriously and always follow the policies and procedures. If a child said something to a member of staff that raised concern to them then they would then follow the policies and procedures, but they would make sure they listened to that child properly and they comforted them and make sure they’re calm and supportive the member of staff dealing with the allegation that the child has made not to put words into their mouths and to listen to everything they said. Once the child has made the allegation and the member of staff has reassured them then the member of staff would go write everything down what got said who said it how they said it their exact words and then they would pass it onto someone higher up.
